It has been 4 years since Nanay passed away January 31, 2003.Mother, Wife, Teacher, Author, Green Thumb, Guidance Councilor, Community Servant, and most of all she was "Nanay".
This is just a tribute in pictures. Of her younger years, her way that I never knew.
never know. I just hope that to those of you who may happen to remember may just, well... remember.Right, Nanay at 13 years of age. The next pictures are Nanay at 15, 17, and 24. Then Tatay and Nanay in 1936.
I found a picture of Nanay and Tatay with Tita Letty, Tita Lita. and my Mom (Fe.) Immediately is a family picture - Tito Eddie, Tita Lita (pregnant with Joel), my Mom, Nanay and Tatay, Tita Letty, and Tito Geny. The kids - my siblings - Jimmy, and Kuya JV, and me (picture compliments of Joel).
Last is Nanay in one of her happiest mood, with me, my wife Monette and Jopoy, then Joel, his wife Joy and Jessie.I tried to write something for her. The way she was to me. So hold the criticisms first. Read on and then post your comment whether
good or bad, OK?Here is to you, Nanay.
I will miss you with all my heart. Thank you for being there from
the start.
Well, to my mind I think I was.
When I was with her, she held me and said
“I love you and I’m always here. If you can't live with someone who is more precious, then I will take care of you.”
Who would try to give me the entire world as far as she could see? And never is too busy to show how much she cares.
She was not perfect, as anyone of you can attest. I cannot say that I agreed with all things that she said and did. Nor to some of her actions that she thought was just best.
I saw the old in her eyes. At times it made me wonder how long she will still live.
The wrinkles in her eyes were like wrinkles in time. She’s more tired and older than I remembered her to be.
She’s weak and loses her temper easily.
I waited with her and cried
But I wasn't there
That night she died...

Jollo,
That was nice of you to do that tribute for Tia Sening. The circle of life goes on, one taking care of one, after they've gone, then after we're gone, it will be your turn, and goes on to the children, preserving the memories and legacies of our beloved elders. It is so nice to be remembered even if long gone, there may not be monuments built, but the lasting expressions of love can only be uttered in remembering in silence , in our hearts. The greatest achievements is not measured by titles and names, and status in life, it is the caring and upbringing of those we love, reared with good values and principle in life, and keeping the unit together as family is I think the biggest accomplishment a person can ever achieved. And that was true with both-of our family. The captain of the ship never abandoned, they went down with the ship, they survived in our memories like any legend and will continue to haunt us if we forget to remembe r.
Again, thank you for the nice work you have done.
Love from Tita Cely---
Jollo,
It was nice of you to find the time to prepare/gather pictures of Nanay. You made me cry. I really miss Nanay a lot, you know how close we are. I miss our trips to the grocery, garden shows, the mall, her fixing our garden in Singalong, etc. I have so many fond memories of Nanay. During my near-death operation bacause of Colon Cancer, I asked for Nanay & Tatay's help and prayers. I hope they are happy now wherever they are. May they rest in peace.
Love from Tita Letty and family.
Dear Jollo, Thank you for the beautiful tribute to Tia Sening. She was a wonderful woman I hold dear to my heart. I was there in Manila and visited her in the hospital the day she died. She was the last of her generation of siblings, the Anselmos of Balangkas, Polo, Bulacan. Great work, Jollo. Tito Mario Anselmo
Dear Jollo,
KUDOS FOR A JOB WELL DONE! I was so impressed by your "Remembering Nanay". What a beautiful job and a wonderful tribute to Lola Sening.
By the way, I belong to the Toribio clan. Hopefully, soon I hope, I will get a chance to visit Manila and reunite with my beautiful aunts (Tita Fe and Tita Lita). I was able to see Tita Letty in California and she's just as beautiful as when I remember her.
More power to you pinsan and may the good Lord continue to bless you with much wisdom to continue the good work you're doing for the Anselmo Family.
Ate Betty Toribio-Byers
P.S. Your Ate Beth forwarded your creation.
